Colonial Collections Consortium

Towards Transparency | Registration open now!

Registration for Towards Transparency: Access to Collections from Colonial Contexts is open now! This international event is organized by the Colonial Collections Consortium between 19 and 23 November 2026. Transparency for collections from colonial contexts has been central to the work of the Consortium in redressing historical injustice. This event will launch two instruments which the Consortium has developed to increase transparency around these collections: the Colonial Collections Datahub and the Research Aids. In addition, this event offers space to exchange ideas and perspectives on the meaning of transparancy in this context.

The in-person event at Wereldmuseum Leiden on 23 November, is preceded by two days of online exchange on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November.

The online event combines Object Stories and Research Case Studies with live demonstrations and dialogues about transparency of and access to collections from colonial contexts. During the in-person event in Leiden, we build on these conversations to further explore this theme through demonstrations, presentations and dialogues on transparency.

Registration for both the online and the in-person events are open now! More information about the live program on 19 November is available here. Don’t worry if you are not available to attend any sessions live, all recordings will be made available for on-demand rewatch on 20 November.
